Special Instructor - Roy
Smith
I took
beginning lessons at Crowder College in Neosho in 1985 where I learned the
basics of the 2-step, double 2-step and the waltz along with a few line dances
that
were popular at the time. Forward and backwards only, no turns were taught at
that time. Since I did not frequent the bars my dancing was very limited.
In 1987 I started square dancing and for the next 10 years the only C/W dancing
I
did was between tips at square dances. I attend several Square Dance Events
throughout the year from Coast to Coast and always try to do some C/W dancing
when traveling.
In 1997 I started attending C/W events and taking some dance workshops in
various
dances. Also started round dance lessons in the fall of 1997. In 2006 I started
doing
some ballroom dancing.
I enjoy dancing very much and really enjoy the fact that others let me know how
much they enjoy my dancing. A lot of women has let me know how much they enjoy
dancing with me and a lot of guys have let me know that they wished the girls
smiled as much when they danced with them as they did with me. Whether I'm
square dancing, round dancing, ballroom or country dancing I've had compliments
from countless people from Coast to Coast tell me how much they enjoyed watching
me dance.
That is what gives me pleasure. The fact that the one I'm dancing with enjoys it
and
the ones watching enjoy it as well.
