CDC Business Meeting 8-26-07 President Debbie Allen called the meeting to order at 4 p.m. Secretary Gwen Walker could not attend the meeting, and Treasurer Jeff Wood volunteered to take the minutes. Karen O’Neal made a motion the minutes of the June 26 meeting be accepted as posted on the club bulletin board. Debbie Wood seconded the motion. Motion passed. Profit and Loss statements for June and July were handed out to all present. TJ Moore moved to accept the treasurer’s reports. Debbie W seconded the motion. Motion passed. Old Business Jeff reported he still had not placed an ad in the newspaper to sell the old floor machine for $499.00 as requested at last meeting. He said he will place the ad this week. TJ and Terry Luther said the hot weather had discouraged them from working on the parking lot, and that the work would be moved to the fall. TJ said the new hard drive for the computer was installed and appears to be working well. TJ also brought a new tool kit he purchased for the club’s use, since we often need tools for something and don’t have any. Karen and Terry reported on their trip to explore Branson area dance clubs, but said there were slim pickins in that area. Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Starlight Shake-It-Up appear to be possibilities. The first one they couldn’t locate, but have heard about. The other looked promising, but it was closed when they arrived. Terry reported on a new garbage disposal. He gave a price range for a good one and a better one made partly of stainless steel. Jeff moved and Jane Smith seconded that the club purchase the better disposal for about $160. Motion passed. New Business Debbie A brought up the Friday Social Night for discussion. Prevailing sentiment was that it might be a good idea, but no one wanted the job of organizing and running it. Debbie scheduled a club cleanup for 2 p.m. Sunday, September 9, for general cleaning and installation of the disposal. Members entered into a discussion of advertising and publicity. Vice-President Lacinda Files volunteered to investigate several possible avenues of free publicity, including Channel 5’s community calendar, the Jones Center TV station’s calendar, and local newspaper calendars. Debbie A recognized the following people for outstanding contributions: ***Si Smith and Emily Edster for taking on the instructors duties in Terry and Karen’s absence. ***John and Vicky Trout for taking on the grass-cutting duties. ***TJ for time spent upgrading the music computer. Debbie A brought up the possibility of a Halloween Party. Members decided that Friday, October 26 would be the date of the party. The club will buy a meat and cheese tray, and members are urged to bring a pot luck dish. $80 was allotted for prizes for costumes and games. TJ volunteered to organize the games. Debbie A set the date of the next business meeting on October 14. Decorating for Halloween will take place that day at 2 p.m., and the meeting will follow at 4 p.m. All members are urged to attend. TJ made a motion to adjourn. Lacinda seconded. Motion passed and the meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m. Members in Attendance: Debbie Allen Lacinda Files Jeff Wood Regena Edster Emily Edster Debbie Wood Karen O’Neal Terry Luther Si Smith Jane Smith John Trout Vicky Trout TJ Moore
