CDC Business Meeting  8-17-08

Debbie Wood called the meeting to order and asked the minutes from the last meeting be read.  Jeff Wood made the motion the minutes be accepted as posted.  David Forbes seconded the motion.  Motion passed.  Treasurer’s report for June and July was passed out to all present and discussed.  David made a motion the report be as presented.  Gwen seconded the motion. Motion passed.

New Business

Debbie asked, “Who wants to have a Halloween Party?”

Halloween party will be on October 31st, at 7 pm.

It will be a costume party with finger foods, games, DANCING and cash prizes for best costume.  Admission is finger food.  There will be a 50/50 pot done during the evening activities.  Emily and Regena Edster are doing the games this year.  Jeff and Terry will be doing the 50/50 pot.  There will be flyers at the door with all the information about the party. Gwen made a motion that $100.00 (total) be allotted for prizes to be given out for best costumes and winners in the games.  Jeff seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

 NOTE: The decorating of the dance club for Halloween will be on Tuesday October 21st, between the line dance class and couples class. 

Dance Club building is now cooler on Monday and Tuesday evenings, thanks to Terry Luther for programming the thermostat to come on and cool down on Monday morning.  Thanks Terry.

Debbie said special “thank you” to Emily Edster for helping DJ a party at the dance club Saturday for a club member who rented the building.  Thank you to Lily Dees for helping at the door on Monday and Tuesday nights.  And special “Thank you” to all dance instructors who teach on Monday and Tuesday, Terry Luther, Karen O’Neal, Si Smith, Sue Sedberry, Colette Schwenner, David Forbes and Gwen Walker. 

Thank you too to John Trout for mowing the grass on the south side of the building.

Thank you from all members to Debbie Wood for teaching, doing the door and getting supplies when needed, keeping the website up to date, and taking care of CDC business.

There was one suggestion in the box this time. Suggest was  “What about an end of Summer Friday night dance”. 

Debbie asked did anyone have any other suggestions.  None was offered.

Jeff asked had anyone heard of any new places opening where we could go dance.

Karen said the Electric Cowboy is doing a country night on Friday nights from 7 to 10pm.  There is a beginner’s dance class from 7 to 8 pm, then country music played till 10pm with Kix 104 radio station doing a live broadcast at this time.  She said there is no cover charge if you get there before 8pm.

Jeff said he was going to have some club T-Shirts made up for club members to wear to the Electric Cowboy for quiet advertising for the dance club. He will let us all know when the T-Shirts are ready.

Several members will be going to the Electric Cowboy Friday night August 22nd, to check this out.  All are welcome to come join in the fun and dancing.

Next meeting set for October 19th.  There will be club clean up before this meeting at 3pm, meeting will begin at 4pm. Terry, Jeff and David will level the outside A/C footing on the south side of the building and Emily has said she would paint the building on the north side where the white spots are.

Regena Edster made a motion the meeting be adjourned. David seconded the motion.  Motion passed.
